Yunus Social Business Research Center (YSBRC)

Projects

A sustainable, diverse, and inclusive society where no one is left behind⎯this concept of the SDGs is a challenge to be shared by all humanity and a responsibility to be fulfilled by the university. To realize such a society, we will define in society the value of social impact and local impact that will contribute to the creation of new value; realize various combinations of natural, cultural, human, social and other resources in communities; strive to implement social business; and foster human resources who can work toward achieving these purposes.

The 3ZERO Club is an initiative toward achieving Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus’s vision.

The mission of the 3ZERO Club is to ensure that young people ideate, create and lead with their entrepreneurial spirit in order to solve the world’s most urgent current social and environmental challenges.

Forming groups of five members, participants learn from one another and act autonomously. The networking of the Clubs, established around the world, expedites the participants’ mutual learning, mutual support, and action.

Social Implementation of Social Business

Social and Sustainable Business Standard

Designed for companies striving to proceed with ESG management and solve social challenges, the Social and Sustainable Business Standard (S Standard) is an assessment and certification standard with its criteria set on management policies, business details, social impact, etc. The purposes of this system lie in visualizing the social impact generated by corporate activities and underpinning the growth of local companies addressing social challenges, thereby striving to foster a social mindset in the relevant communities and realizing sustainability in the communities. In addition, the system aims to establish eco-systems among companies and consumers through the certification framework in order to achieve sustainable growth in their community economy.

For this system, the third-party organization Social and Sustainable Business Standard Committee has been established under the center. The committee comprises experts of various fields from the university, as well as specialists of management, accounting and administration. Under the contract from the general incorporated association Social and Sustainable Business Standard Organization, the committee fairly and equitably judges the social nature and social impact of companies and other organizations.

Working Group toward Solving Social Challenges

Under the center, a working group has been established to analyze and solve social challenges. Consisting of teaching and administrative staff from various faculties and sections, this working group is a cross-sectional unit.

Since its establishment in June 2021, the working group has been committed to the solution of economic problems and gender problems, including period poverty.
